Kitchen Organization

In honor of “Organize Your Home Day” yesterday, January 14th, we have decided to dole out some tips. If you didn’t get it done yesterday, no worries. We won’t tell! Visibility, uniformity, and functionality are key when it comes to organization.

This week let’s start with the heart of the home, the kitchen…

1. First and foremost, condense. Toss expired items. They are just taking up precious pantry space! Containers without lids? Those too.

2. Streamline your pantry. Ditch the mismatched containers and transfer spices to matching clear jars.

3. Transfer all of your dry goods and snacks to clear containers. You can find the cutest free printable pantry labels here. Just remember to put a sticker on the bottom with the expiration date!

4. The Tupperware cabinet is a known nightmare. Use a CD or plate rack to organize storage lids like HGTV did in this photo below.

5. It goes without saying to keep the items you use most readily accessible. But what about those that you don’t? The 3 tier cupcake stand you bought to display last year’s birthday treats naturally does not get used as much as, say, your coffee mugs. In which case it does, disregard this. Either put the stand up and away in one of those hard to reach cabinets or put it to good use for more storage! You can use it as a beverage station for coffee and tea, to organize sink essentials, or even to display decor…the possibilities are endless.
